Dr. B’s BARF Rolls – for Dogs

In response to numerous requests from people who feed the larger breeds of dogs or large numbers of dogs, Dr. Billinghurst has produced BARF in the form of Dr. B’s BIG BARF and Dr. B’s 800 gm BARF Rolls.

Dr. B’s BIG BARF – a 3 Kg Roll of solid BARF!

Dr. B’s BIG BARF comes as a 3Kg Roll of solid BARF, with just one flavourCombination (which is a mix of Chicken, Beef, Lamb and Pork).   This big roll of BARF is highly economical and very popular with people who feed large numbers of dogs.

Dr. B’s 800 gm BARF Rolls

Dr. B’s 800 gm BARF Rolls come in five different flavours, Chicken, Beef, Lamb, Combo and Rabbit.  These smaller BARF rolls are an economical form of BARF for people who want their BARF to be a little bigger that the patties, but not as big as BIG BARF – usually people with lots of little dogs or one or two large dogs.

If you have to feed large numbers of dogs or if you have several large breed dogs or you run breeding or boarding kennels, the logical and highly economical choice that we recommend is Dr. B’s 3Kg BIG BARF Roll, or Dr. B’s 800 gm BARF Rolls.

Further economies can be achieved by combining the BARF with equal quantities of raw meaty bones such as chicken necks, wings, frames and carcasses, lamb flaps, beef brisket, soft pork bones, kangaroo tails, ox tails etc..

BARF FLAVOURS

Dr. B’s Genuine Aussie R.A.W. ™ Products come in a variety of ‘flavours.’

For dogs Dr. B has produced seven flavours, including Chicken, Beef, Lamb, Pork, Rabbit, Roo and Combination (or Combo – a mix of Chicken, Beef, Lamb and Pork).

For cats Dr. B has produced three flavours – Turkey, ‘Roo’ and Rabbit.

Important: In contrast to modern fake industrial food for companion animals, Dr. B’s BARF for dogs is so nutritious and versatile that it may be fed with complete confidence to the feline member of the family (and it is quite OK to feed Dr. B’s BARF for cats – to dogs – as well!).

Please note that if you feed the canine version of modern industrial dog foods to cats, it will end in nutritional disaster for our cats – which illustrates graphically, the very poor quality of modern industrial – grain based – dog foods.  It also confirms the exceedingly high Quality of all of Dr. B’s BARF Products!

To help you choose the ‘Flavour’ or Flavours that would best suit your dog or your cat, please read the following important information.

Dr B’s BARF ‘Flavours’ for Dogs

Dr. B’s Genuine Aussie R.A.W. ™ CHICKEN Flavour for Dogs

This is Dr. B’s most popular flavour – our best seller.   There are very few dogs (or indeed cats) that will not be tempted by the taste and smell of Dr. B’s Chicken BARF.    However, Dr. B’s chicken BARF is popular for many reasons other than taste, all of which are related to the health of our dogs.   Chicken bones play a particularly important role in promoting the health of our companion animals; being derived from young healthy birds, they are toxin free, relatively soft, they contain a high proportion of bone marrow (for blood forming nutrients and essential fatty acids), they are a balanced and biologically appropriate source of the bone forming minerals calcium and phosphorous and are an excellent source of cartilage, which helps with joint health and cancer prevention.  There are at least three other reasons that our chicken BARF has enormous health enhancing properties.   Firstly the high level of essential amino acids (the building blocks of proteins) in chicken meat, secondly the high levels of the health enhancing and bodily repairing sulphur containing amino acids in chicken meat and thirdly, the very high level of healthy fatty acids to be found in chicken fat.   These include both polyunsaturated fatty acids and monounsaturated fatty acids, together with exceptionally high levels of Palmitoleic fatty acid.   Palmitoleic fatty acid has the extraordinary property of being antimicrobial and is one of the many reasons that the dogs eating Dr. B’s BARF patties maintain such magnificent health.

Dr. B’s Chicken BARF is very suitable for all life stages and being based on a white meat (which is anti-inflammatory), is very suitable wherever a dog (or cat) is faced with some sort of inflammatory condition, such as arthritis, a skin condition and even where a companion animal is stricken with cancer, a condition, which is driven by inflammation.  There are only two general circumstances that should prevent you from feeding Dr. B’s chicken BARF to your dog (or cat); firstly where your dog or cat has any sort of allergy to chicken and secondly where a cat or a dog requires a low fat diet.

Dr. B’s Genuine Aussie R.A.W. ™ BEEF Flavour for Dogs

Dr. B’s Beef BARF, which is best described as a ‘Red Meat’ product, is a brilliant food for both growing dogs and very active dogs; eg (working) farm dogs, agility dogs and Greyhounds etc.  It is suitable for all life stages, so long as the older animal is not suffering from any inflammatory or degenerative condition.  Not so strangely, Dr. B’s Beef BARF is also very suitable (and very popular) with many cats, who find Dr. B’s Beef BARF for dogs highly attractive and nutritious with its excellent levels of Arachidonic Acid, an Essential Fatty Acid for cats!

It is also worthwhile noting that all Dr. B’s BARF products, being made from fresh raw food of animal origin has more than enough Taurine in an available form for both our cats and our dogs.

Dr. B’s Beef BARF has a valuable role to play in an animal suffering from any form of anaemia because of the high levels of available iron in Beef Meat. (Note that all our products help with anaemia, but our Beef BARF is particularly valuable!)

Where we don’t recommend our Beef BARF is in cases of a ‘Beef Allergy,’ or where an animal is suffering from any sort of inflammatory or degenerative condition. While we strongly recommend our Dr. B’s Beef BARF for young, active and growing animals, which thrive on this flavour, it may be less suitable for older and/or sicker animals; suffering from problems such as arthritis, a skin condition, or cancer.  In these cases, we suggest Dr. B’s Chicken, Pork and Lamb BARF – and in special circumstances – Dr. B’s Roo BARF.

Dr. B’s Genuine Aussie R.A.W. ™ LAMB Flavour for Dogs

Australian lamb is a brilliantly pure meat because of its background of being solely pasture fed.  In terms of being either a red or white meat, lamb is very much a ‘fence-sitter.  This means Dr. B’s Lamb BARF is a very good and safe choice in most situations; it is a good ‘All-rounder.’

Dr. B’s Lamb BARF is ideal for all life stages and it has been a ‘life-saver’ in many cases of arthritis, skin conditions and even cancer.  The presence of high levels of the anti-cancer fatty acid known as Conjugated Linoleic Acid in the pasture fed lamb used for Dr. B’s Lamb BARF is a bonus and a special indication for using Dr. B’s Lamb BARF for Canine and Feline Cancer patients.

Dr. B’s Lamb BARF is an excellent food to consider where a dog (or even a cat) suffers from being underweight.  However, the lamb flavour would definitely be avoided in cases of pancreatitis or where an animal has an allergy or reaction to lamb meat, lamb bones or lamb fat.

Dr. B’s Genuine Aussie R.A.W. ™ PORK Flavour for Dogs

Pork is a brilliant food for both dogs and cats; but unfortunately, it often suffers from ‘bad press.’  Largely for historical and possibly religious reasons, there are several misconceptions regarding pork.   Firstly, the pork used for Dr. B’s Pork BARF is sourced from parasite and disease free Australian farms, where there is no Trichinosis or other problems such as Aujesky’s disease as found in the so-called organic pork as produced in much of Europe.  In addition, the urban myth that pork is indigestible and remains in the digestive system – undigested for years, is simply that – an urban myth.

Dr. B’s Pork BARF often proves an excellent choice in cases of skin or bowel allergy.   Their high and balanced levels of polyunsaturated fats, is clearly an asset under these conditions.    Like lamb, pork is a definite all rounder, although tending more to the white than the red side compared to lamb.  This means it should be considered as part of any programme dealing with a degenerative disease process; the healthy pork fats and high quality pork protein can play a valuable role in combating bodily degeneration.   If you have not tried Dr. B’s Pork BARF with your dog (or cat), do consider it, you might be pleasantly surprised at how quickly your dog (or cat), makes that Pork BARF ‘disappear’ and along with it, the disappearance (over time) of many health problems, particularly allergic problems.

Dr. B’s Genuine Aussie R.A.W. ™ RABBIT Flavour for Dogs

For many dogs (and cats!), this is an ‘exotic’ flavour that they simply love!   Rabbit is not dissimilar to chicken in that it is a white meat, with excellent anti-inflammatory properties and the additional characteristic of being highly attractive to most dogs (and cats!).  Don’t be put off by the smell (as some people are) because your dog thinks the aroma is just beautiful – even if you don’t!  If your dog (or cat) is a fussy eater, Dr. B’s Rabbit BARF may be the solution.

Important: Dr. B’s wide range of ‘flavours,’ including rabbit, allows pet carers to rotate their pet through a wide range of different protein types; this helps to fulfil the Evolutionary principle of providing balance through a wide range of protein-source Evolutionary foods.

Dr. B’s Genuine Aussie R.A.W. ™ ‘ROO Flavour for Dogs

Kangaroo is of course, the only truly ‘wild’ meat available on a large scale in Australia.   As a ‘wild meat, it is truly organic, being in no way farmed. Perhaps its most valuable feature (and drawback in some circumstances) is its very low calorific value; Dr. B’s kangaroo BARF is practically fat free.    This makes Dr. B’s Roo BARF highly valuable to any cat or dog that has a problem such as pancreatitis or obesity, or any other problem, which requires a balanced low fat diet.  On the other hand, being low in fat makes Dr. B’s Roo BARF unsuitable as the solo diet for a young dog, a pregnant bitch or a lactating bitch.     There is no problem of course, using Dr B’s Roo BARF for growing, pregnant or lactating canines as part of a rotating (with Dr. B’s other ‘Flavours’ and/or raw meaty bones) programme of nutrition.  Combined with appropriate supplementation, Dr. B’s Roo BARF often proves highly valuable for dogs with a wide range of disease problems.  (For further information, see ‘Modifying Dr. B’s BARF for certain life stages and Diseases’.

Dr. B’s Genuine Aussie R.A.W. ™ COMBO Flavour for Dogs

Beaten only by Dr. B’s Chicken BARF, this flavour is the second most popular flavour in Dr. B’s range of Genuine Aussie R.A.W. BARF for dogs.    Combo is clearly a great all-round food for our dogs (yes – and cats!) as it contains a wide range of protein types (chicken, lamb, beef and pork).  This makes Combo the ideal ‘Flavour’ to purchase where – for whatever reason – the desire or the requirement is that only one flavour is to be stocked or used.  That is why Combo is the chosen flavour for our 3 Kg BIG BARF ROLLS – the ideal choice for carers with large dogs or lots of dogs, which includes people running breeding or boarding kennels.

Dr B’s BARF ‘Flavours’ for Cats

Dr. B’s Genuine Aussie R.A.W. ™ TURKEY, ROO and RABBIT Flavours for Cats

Apart from their brilliantly health enhancing properties for felines, there is a lot less that needs to be said about Dr. B’s BARF ‘Flavours’ for cats, compared to dogs.   Yes, they are all suitable for all life stages, yes they will quietly and without fuss, like Dr. B’s BARF for dogs see many health problems improve dramatically and like Dr. B’s BARF for dogs, they may be used as a stand-alone product OR combined with other (suitable) raw whole foods to produce a healthy (Feline) Evolutionary Programme of Nutrition.  Similarly, they may be modified (with the addition of specific foods and supplements) in the face of particular feline disease problems.   Additionally, Dr. B’s BARF Flavours for cats may be used across the species divide, that is, Dr. B’s BARF ‘Flavours’ for cats are often the ideal choice when feeding smaller breeds of dogs (cat patties are smaller than dog patties) including most particularly their puppies.

As any cat owner/lover will testify, cats are fussy; cats want variety; the majority of cats will test the patience of their feeding slave(s) to the max.   For that reason, for most cats, it is wise to have all three flavours on hand and also be prepared with other healthy feline appropriate foods such as chicken wings and necks, whole fish, straight meat minces, milk with egg yolks and cream etc, and not forgetting that many cats will happily eat (and sometimes prefer) Dr. B’s BARF for dogs.
